Manual chain hoists can be used in an upright position. If you need a hoist that can be used both vertically and horizontally (for example for dragging or tensioning), then choose a lever hoist.

Before each use, it is important that the hoist, the suspension, the supporting structure and possible additional options are checked for any defects. The brakes must work and the loads to be lifted must not exceed the maximum of the hoisting structure.

Before use, the load chain must also be inspected for proper lubrication, possible deformation, cracks, wear, and possible corrosion damage. Also check the control chain. It is also significant that you check both the upper and lower hook for corrosion and other damage. The safety latch in the hooks must work properly.

Make sure that the chain can run freely through the hoist and that the chain welds are facing out. Chain blocks must be tested annually by an expert. So, before use check whether the hoist has been inspected.
