A lifting sling has a base of fibers and wires. The fibers and wires of the lifting slings are made of high-quality materials. Polyester, polyamide, polypropylene, or polyethylene have been specially developed for a long lifespan and more importantly: strength and security. Important aspects to keep the workplace safe. A lifting sling is provided with a label with work instructions and an indication of the workload.

Round slings are also sometimes called lifting straps or webbing slings. The fibers of round slings are as standard enclosed in a protective, wear-resistant cover. You can read the workload indication (stripe coding) on this cover. Each line represents a 1 ton of lifting capacity. The workload of the sling can also be recognized by the different colors. Each color stands for a different workload (WLL).

Before use:

Always inspect lifting straps and round slings before use. Pay attention to the following points:

• Is there serious wear and tear?
• Thread breakage (including broken load-bearing stitching)
• Damaged cover with a round sling
• Knots in the sling or round sling
• Chemical degradation or heat damage
• External damage such as cuts, and edge damage resulting in a reduction of the bandwidth of 10%.

When in doubt, take the round sling or lifting sling out of use.

Safe working environment

You may not use lifting slings or round slings in case of abnormal environmental influences.

• With chemicals, greases, or acids
• In or with (hot) fluids
• At a temperature over +80 degrees Celsius
• At a temperature below -40 degrees Celsius

Also, pay attention to the following points:

• Always dry the wet straps
• Carefully read the directions on the label
• Use exclusively for lifting!

Protection and accessories for the lifting strap and round sling

There are various attachments for your lifting sling. The attachments serve to protect against possible damage.

Follow the label instructions

• Lifting straps may not be knotted or twisted
• Round slings may not be twisted several times to shorten the lifting length
• Watch out for sharp edges. Lifting slings and round slings mayt not be stretched or pulled over sharp edges, as there is a danger of being cut. Use a protective cover or use protective pieces such as edge protection for extra security
• Use the correct lifting straps and attachment points, such as a lifting hook for the load in question and reeving (corners)
• In case of uneven weight distribution, make sure that no overloading of one of the parts can occur. Use a lifting beam if a long load must be lifted with several lifting straps.
