Tips & Tricks | Hi-Force

The technique behind hydraulics

The hydraulic technology used in Hi-Force's products is a modern drive, control, and regulation technology. This technique has become indispensable in many sectors, as it is used in many mechanical aids. Force is created with the help of liquids under high pressure. This force is used to move heavy loads or to support the loads. Many hydraulic sets have their own specific field of application. For example, hollow plunger cylinders are often used to pull something. A lock nut cylinder is used in applications that need to be held in a certain position for extended periods of time. Hydraulic technology is therefore very useful in many situations. Liftinggearshop's range of Hi-Force products includes hydraulic jacks, cylinders, and pumps. These categories are discussed below.

Hydraulic jacks

A hydraulic jack has an integrated pump and oil reservoir, such as a bottle jack. The jacks from our range of the Hi-Force brand are ultra-compact. The aluminum material makes the lifting equipment extremely lightweight. These advantages mean that you can easily move the hydraulic jack and can therefore use it multi-functionally. Various models have a handle that can be rotated 360º. The jacks have a maximum workload that can be up to 30 tons. Choose from a spring-assisted return jack or a hollow-plunger jack, which means that the piston is retracted by the weight of the load.

Hydraulic cylinders

A cylinder differs from an auger in that the device requires an external pump to move. A pump is connected to the cylinder via a hydraulic hose, sometimes a manometer is added to read the hydraulic pressure. Cylinders can be powered by either a manual or electric pump. What makes Hi-Force cylinders so unique is that there are models for different heights. The smallest model has the lowest construction height in the world, while it can lift to 30 tons and exert up to 700 bar of maximum working pressure. Ideal for access in confined areas. The cylinders are available in various models, often single-acting. This means that the cylinder lowers due to the release of pressure on the liquid.

Hydraulic pumps

The hydraulic pumps in our Hi-Force range are operated manually. The pumps consist of a steel construction and are provided with aluminum material. The compact hand pump models have a liquid storage capacity of five liters. There is a safety valve for overpressure on the inside and a 2-way valve for single-acting cylinders on the outside. With a maximum working pressure of 700 bar and a maximum lever force of 45 KG, the hydraulic pump can be easily combined with other Hi-Force products from the range.

The quality of Hi-Force

The Hi-Force products are manufactured in England. All products, except for system components such as manometers, are individually tested at 125% of the maximum working pressure. Every product is provided with a factory certificate and serial number for traceability. In contrast to the traditional chrome plating of the steel, Hi-Force uses a thermochemical treatment, which ensures a higher wear resistance and anti-rust effect. In addition, the plungers and stop rings in the jacks are nitro-carburized as standard.

Handy facts about the Hi-Force products:

  • Designed to meet or comply with the requirements of current national and international standards;
  • Designed and manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 quality assurance requirements;
  • Be subject to the strictest quality control measures and processes;
  • Inspection equipment with the latest technologies is used to accurately inspect manufactured components;
  • Permanently marked with their respective model number and a unique serial number;
  • Both the model number and unique serial number are traceable to an individually issued test certificate.

Tips when using hydraulic jacks:

  • Always use the hydraulic jacks on a flat surface when lifting the load;
  • Always work under a load that is completely and correctly supported;
  • Never use a cylinder that is incorrectly coupled to the operational pump;
  • Never exceed the nominal capacity of the hydraulic cylinder;
  • Never lift a load that exceeds the stated cylinder capacity.

Tips for hydraulic sets:

  • When connecting a pump, make sure that the nominal pressure capacity is suitable for the Hi-Force cylinder;
  • Keep hydraulic equipment away from flames and direct heat;
  • Hydraulic equipment should only be operated by a qualified technician;
  • Immediately replace worn or damaged parts only with original Hi-Force parts;
  • Use a pressure gauge to check the system whenever possible.
